Consistently ranked among the United States’ top courses, Seminole Golf Club was designed by Donald Ross and opened for play on January 1, 1930. Ben Hogan frequently visited the club to prepare for the Masters, saying, “It’s the only course I could be perfectly happy playing every single day. If you can play well at Seminole, you can play well anywhere.”
Claude Harmon Sr., the club’s winter professional from 1945-’57, owns the course record, a 60 that he shot in 1947—a year before winning the Masters. David Ford, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina, came close to matching Harmon's record in the first round of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup held at the esteemed club in October when he ran off eight consecutive birdies en route to a 10-under 62.
