Two of the top senior golfers in the country have teamed up and won six straight Four-Ball championships, this one by 15 shots
Since 2019, only one team has lifted the trophy at the Georgia Senior Four-Ball Championship.
And that did not change this year.
Doug Hanzel of Savannah, Ga., and Bob Royak of Alpharetta, Ga., blitzed the field to win the championship at Laura S. Walker State Park Golf Course in Waycross, Ga., winning by an astounding 15 shots after finishing 24-under and shooting impressive rounds of 67-64-61.
The duo is one of the best Four-Ball teams in the country. Royak is ranked No. 1 in the AmateurGolf.com Senior Rankings, and Hanzel is ranked No. 3. Hanzel is also ranked No. 1 in the AmateurGolf.com Super Senior Rankings.
Royak has been a model of consistency and recently made the quarterfinals of the 2024 Crump Cup, finished T5 at the Jones Cup Senior, T3 at the North and South Senior, and T5 at the International Senior.
Hanzel has won three of the last five tournaments he participated in, winning the International Senior and the Golfweek Pacific Northwest Senior. He finished T3 at the Canadian Senior Amateur and the final 64 of the U.S. Senior Amateur.
