Kyle An of Jurupa Valley, Calif., captured the title at the Inland Empire Amateur Championship with an impressive 11-under 205, thanks to rounds of 71-68-66 at Oak Valley GC. An's stellar performance in the final round, where he fired a 66 with five birdies on the back nine, helped him overcome a seven-stroke deficit and secure a two-shot victory.
An started the final day at 5-under, trailing 36-hole leader Grant Martens of San Diego, who was 12-under. Martens struggled in the final round, shooting a 76, which dropped him into a tie for third with Dylan Brack of Riverside. Martens finished with rounds of 66-66-76, while Brack posted 71-67-70 to match his 8-under total.
An, a junior at UCLA has competed in nine ranking events this season, with his best result being a third-place finish at the SCGA Amateur Championship in July.
Hill Wang of Hacienda Heights finished as the runner-up with rounds of 67-69-71, ending the tournament at 9-under. The event featured 113 players, with 43 making the 36-hole cut, which was set at 1-over 145.
