Ege and Dodd-Berry finished as co-medalists as ETSU won by two shots to secure its fourth straight SoCon championship

It was all East Tennessee State at the 2024 SoCon Championships at Reynolds Plantation Golf Club, the Oconee Course, in Greensboro, Ga.

ETSU outlasted Chattanooga by two shots, finishing 30-under with rounds of 275-279-280, while Chattanooga finished 28-under and carded rounds of 284-274-278. Chattanooga's final-round 10-under 278 was enough to cut into the deficit but not enough to fully complete the comeback.

ETSU had a nine-shot lead after the first round and sustained the lead to secure the wire-to-wire win.

Mats Ege and Matty Dodd-Berry finished as co-medalists to lead ETSU in the championship.

Ege is now a two-time SoCon championship winner after winning the 2023 title and successfully defending that title this season. Ege also won medalist honors at the Wake Forest Invitational At Pinehurst No. 2 earlier this season. Dodd-Berry finished in solo second place at the 2023 SoCon Championship.

This is the Buccaneer's fourth straight SoCon title and the 24th in the history of the program.

UNCG finished in solo third place at 8-under, Furman finished in solo fourth place at even par, and Mercer finished in solo fifth place at 10-over.

Ege and Matty Dodd-Berry of East Tennessee State finished as co-medalists in the individual competition. Ege shot rounds of 67-65-71, and Dodd-Berry finished with rounds of 65-70-68. Dodd-Berry shot a final round of 4-under 68 to come back from a three-shot deficit to Ege.

Dodd-Berry started his final round 6-under through the first six holes to go from down three shots to a one-shot lead. He entered No. 16 with a two-shot lead, but two birdies from Ege on No. 16 and 17 to tie the top of the leaderboard.

Ege is ranked No. 9, and Dodd-Berry is ranked No. 311 in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings

Chattanooga occupied the rest of the top five, with Samuel Espinosa-Treuba and John Houk finishing T3 at 11-under and Paul Conroy finishing in solo fifth place at 8-under.
