The SMU women's golf team used a strong final round to win the 2024 American Athletic Women's Golf Championship at the Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla.

The Mustangs carded rounds of 278-289-276 to get to 21-under and win by two shots over Tulsa. SMU's first round of 10-under 278 got them the early lead, but a second round 1-over 289 saw them relinquish the lead to Tulsa and enter the final round down three shots.

In the final round, a 12-under 276 gave the Mustangs the two-shot lead.

Tulsa finished in solo second place at 19-under, and South Florida finished in solo third place at 14-under. East Carolina finished in solo fourth place at 2-over, and UTSA finished in solo fifth place at 7-over.

In the individual competition, Daniela Abonce of UTSA finished 9-under to pull off the come-from-behind win in the final round.
