The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced tee times for the first two rounds of the 59th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship on Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11, at The Lakewood Club’s Dogwood Course. The Dogwood Course will play at 5,846 yards and par 72 for the championship.
The U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur consists of 36 holes of stroke play on Sept. 10 and 11, after which the 132-player field will be reduced to the low 64 scorers. There will be six rounds of match play, starting Sept. 12 with the Round of 64. The Round of 32 and Round of 16 will be played on Sept. 13. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Sept. 14 and the championship will conclude with an 18-hole final on Sept. 15.

Lara Tennant, Ellen Port, Judith Kyrinis
This threesome has combined to win six previous U.S. Senior Women's Amateur titles. Two-time defending champion Lara Tennant of Portland, Ore. will begin her title defense on and will join a group of past champions including Ellen Port (2012-13, '16) of St. Louis and Judith Kyrinis (2017) of Canada.
Port comes into the tournament on a roll. Shortly after she tied for low amateur at the U.S. Senior Women's Open, she became the first women to win the Metropolitan Senior Amateur championship with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole. A few days after she beat the men, Port shot 72 and 65 to win the Senior Missouri Amateur. The seven-time USGA champion has won four U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships as well as three U.S. Senior Women’s Amateurs, with the last coming in 2016. She is tied with Carol Semple Thompson for second among female USGA champions, trailing only JoAnne Carner (eight).
Kyrinis won the 2017 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship by defeating Terrill Samuel, 4 and 3, in the final at Waverley Country Club in Portland, Ore. She has competed in 18 USGA championships, including five Senior Women’s Amateurs.
Sarah Ingram, Carol S. Thompson, Patricia Cornett
Victorious Curtis Cup captain Sarah Ingram will be paired with the legendary Carol S. Thompson of Sewickley, Pa.; Patricia Cornett of Mill Valley, Calif. A two-time All-America selection at Duke, Ingram is a three-time U.S. Mid-Amateur champion who also has represented the USA in three Curtis Cups.
Thompson is a World Golf Hall of Famer with seven USGA championship titles in 116 USGA championships played, tied for second-most among all women in victories with Ellen Port, one behind JoAnne Carner.
Cornett is no stranger to USGA championships, having played in more than 60, beginning with the U.S. Girls’ Junior in 1971. Her best finish is runner-up in the 1987 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur. She is a four-time USGA championship semifinalist: 1976 and 1982 Women’s Amateur, and 1992 and 1999 Women’s Mid-Amateur. She also played on the USA Curtis Cup Team in 1978 and 1988, and captained the Team in 2012.
Karen Garcia, Mina Hardin, Terri Frohmayer
Garcia is the 2015 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur champion who didn't start playing golf until the age of 21. Hardin was the first Mexican woman to play on the LPGA Tour (1983-1989) and the first Mexican-born USGA champion when she won the 2010 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur. A reinstated amateur since 1991, Hardin has played in 58 USGA championships, including six U.S. Women’s Opens. Frohmayer defeated Hardin to win the 2011 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur in Chattanooga, Tenn.
