SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 4, 2018) - Travis Peterson and Lucas Carper (San Jose, CA) were the co-medalists in San Francisco City Amateur qualifying, each completing 36 holes in 2-under 138 at TPC Harding Park and Lincoln Park. Peterson, a 29-year-old from Santa Rosa, held the lead after a 4-under 68 Saturday at TPC Harding Park, and like many others, found Lincoln Park a little tougher to score on. Peterson shot a solid 2-over 70 at Lincoln Park on Sunday. The defending champion Brian Ma of Milpitas shot rounds of 77 at TPC Harding Park and 71 at Lincoln Park to safely advance to match play. Ned Jensen of San Francisco, a semifinalist last year, shot a 1-under 71 for a 7-over 147 total. The low 64 players from qualifying advance to match play, and the cut fell at 14-over 154. Eight players were on that number and had to play off for the final two match play spots, starting on the 18th at TPC Harding Park. In the playoff, Jack Steck and Beau Scroggins were able to make par and take the final two match play spots. The tournament continues next weekend, with three rounds of match play scheduled, which will pare the field down to the final 16.
