SOUTHAMPTON, Bermuda (November 30, 2017) - Matt Parziale closed with a 1-under 69 and at 3-under-par he finished as the low amateur at the Goslings Invitational.
Playing at Port Royal Golf Course the reigning U.S. Mid-Amateur champion carded rounds of 70-72-68-69 to finish tied for 11th with 2015 Goslings Invitational winner Brian McCann.
Parziale of Brockton, MA was 1-over for his round through 15-holes before closing with birdies on Nos. 16 and 18. Overall the round included five birdies and four bogeys as Parziale did well to battle back to an under-par finish following bogeys on the 2nd and 3rd holes.
In addition to his U.S. Mid-Amateur win in October Parziale has also won the Massachusetts Amateur, the Ouimet Memorial and repeated at the Massachusetts Four-Ball this year.
Fellow New Englander Herbie Aikens of Kingston, MA and Bermuda resident Damian Palanyandi tied for second in the amateur race finishing 4-over and tied for 18h overall. Both players carded 1-under 69's during Friday's closing round.

THIRD ROUND RECAP
With one round remaining U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Matt Parziale continues to play well and at 2-under and he will begin the final round of the Goslings Invitational hosted by Port Royal Golf Course in a tie for seventh and as the low amateur.
Parziale, from Brockton, MA, had his best round thus far during Thursday's third round firing a 2-under 68. The New Englander went out in 4-under 31 with a bogey-free side that included four birdies before closing with a 2-over 37 on the back nine. On the front nine Parziale birdied the 2nd hole and then really got things going with consecutive birdies on Nos. 5-7.
Parziale then birdied once on the back nine while double-bogeying the 11th and bogeying the 14th.
Fellow New Englander Herbie Aikens of Kingston, MA and Bermuda resident Damian Palanyandi are tied for second in the amateur race at 5-over and tied for 21st overall.
Aikens matched PGA Tour veteran Brad Adamonis for the round of the day with a 5-under 65. His round was flawless and it included birdies on Nos. 5, 9, 11 and an eagle on the par-5 12th.
The overall leader is English professional Daniel Gaunt who is 11-under and ahead by six shots.

At the midway point of the Goslings Invitational hosted by Port Royal Golf Course U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Matt Parziale is the low amateur and tied for seventh.
With two rounds remaining Parziale sits at level-par following rounds of 70-72. One of seventh players at even-par Parziale of Brockton, MA birdied three-times and bogeyed four-times on Wednesday with his final birdie coming on the 17th hole.
