Muehr, who won in 2008 and 2014, beat the 2011 champion Stephen Summers (Dallas, TX) in the morning 3&2, and then knocked off Ryan Abbate (Weston, FL) in the afternoon 2&1.

Williamson had the low round on day one of stroke play qualifying, then struggled in round two to fall to the bottom of the championship bracket. But he mowed through two strong match play opponents on Saturday, beating Walker Cupper and U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Stewart Hagestad (Newport Beach, CA) 4&2, and then taking out defending champion Jeff Knox (Atlanta, GA) 6&4.

McDermott eliminated a couple of Southerners on Saturday, first beating Danny Simmerman (San Antonio, TX) in the morning and then knocking out Derek Busby (Ruston, LA) in the afternoon.

Miller had to play extra holes in both of his matches, winning on the 19th against Michael Brown (Maple Shade, NJ) and on the 22nd against Jeronimo Esteve (Windermere, FL).

Esteve played a great morning match against the medalist and 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Scott Harvey (Kernersville, NC), winning convincingly 4&3.
