The quarterfinalists in last season's NCAA Championships top the first Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of 2017-8

NORMAN, OK (August 25, 2017) - Oklahoma State will open the season ranked No. 1 in the preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. The host of this season’s NCAA Championships, the Cowboys collected seven first-place votes.

OSU has a loaded roster for the 2017-18 season, with several players enjoying success in major amateur tournaments this summer. Zach Bauchou won the Canadian Amateur earlier this month. Kristoffer Ventura finished in the final 16 of both the U.S. Amateur and British Amateur. Hayden Wood was the medalist and set a 36-hole scoring record at the U.S. Amateur. Brendon Jelley was a quarterfinalist in the Western Amateur. Incoming freshman Matthew Wolff was the runner-up in the U.S. Junior.

Vanderbilt, the top-ranked team in last season’s final regular season poll, was second with four first-place votes. Defending national champion Oklahoma received 10 first-place votes and ranked third. Baylor joined the Oklahoma squads as three Big 12 teams ranked in the preseason top four. No. 5 Illinois tallied the remaining first-place ballot. Texas ranked sixth while LSU, Southern California, Oregon and Florida completed the top 10.
