CRETE, IL (April 23, 2017) - With rounds of 69-71 John Wright posted a 4-under tally that nobody else could match. As a result, Wright won the 2017 playing of the Will County Amateur at Balmoral Woods Golf Club.
Leading at the beginning of the final round following a first round 3-under 69, Wright started strongly on Sunday with three consecutive birdies before holding on down the stretch. After turning at 6-under overall, Wright started to leak some oil with bogeys on Nos. 10, 14 and 18 but fortunately he was able to roll in a birdie on the 17th and par the rest to hold on for a two shot win.
Grant Goltz was second at 2-under, Andy Roderique; Terry Werner shared third at 1-over while Cully Johnston placed fifth at 2-over.
Defending champion Glenn Przybylski ended up in eighth place after a 5-over showing.
