Charlie Thornton wins The Berkhamsted Trophy in Playoff

It took extra holes but with the light dwindling Charlie Thornton was the last man standing at The Berkhamsted Trophy

BERKHAMSTED, England (April 8, 2017) -- It took extra holes but with the light dwindling Charlie Thornton was the last man standing at The Berkhamsted Trophy. Thornton fired a final round 4-under 67 to post 7-under and then he was able to outlast Ben Huchinson on the first extra hole. Thornton did well to rebound after a late stumble. Heading to the 17th hole Thornton was 5-under for the round and 8-under overall but a bogey dropped him back a stroke and into the playoff. Playing at Berkhamsted Golf Club, Thornton began his week with rounds of 71-69-70. The 1-under 70 was posted Saturday during the 36-hole final day. John Kemp and Jack Gaunt were tied for third at 3-under while Callum Farr placed fifth at 2-under.
