Florida moves up to No. 2 in the first Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll of the spring season

(February 17, 2017) -- There was no change atop the first Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll of the spring season. Vanderbilt finished the fall as the top team and that is where they remain as the college golf season quickly moves towards the month of March.

The Commodores received 13 of a possible 24 first place votes and they were one of five teams to receive a vote for the top spot. The others programs to receive votes include Florida (6), Illinois (3), USC (1) and Virginia (1).

Vanderbilt was able to hold onto the top spot despite not playing yet this spring. They are making their 2017 debut this weekend at the All-American Intercollegiate. In the fall Vanderbilt teed it up four- times, winning twice.

The biggest moves in the polls came from Texas Tech and defending NCAA Champions Oregon. Both teams jumped up 10 spots with Texas Tech going from 17th to No. 7 and the Oregon going from 22nd to No. 12.

Texas Tech was able to make the big leap thanks to a spring season opening win at the Amer Ari Invitational where junior Fredrick Nilehn also took home medalist honors. Oregon's move up the rankings came after they won the Arizona Intercollegiate to start the spring and then finished third at the Amer Ari Invitational shortly after.

Auburn remained in the top 25 but they fell the farthest, going from No. 8 to 17. The only new team in the rankings is No. 24 Colorado and they replace Florida State.
