Illinois takes over Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll

Five new teams have entered the rankings including San Diego State who jumped to No. 15

NORMAN, OK (September 30, 2016) -- Illinois received 15 first-place votes and moved to No. 1 in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. The Illini were ranked third in the preseason.

Oklahoma State and Auburn each received a first- place vote with the Cowboys moving up three spots to second and the Tigers jumping eight rungs to third, respectively. LSU was fourth while preseason No. 1 Texas fell to fifth, despite receiving a first-place ballot. ACC foes Clemson (#6), Virginia (#7) and Wake Forest (#10) all rocketed into the top 10, with the Cavaliers earning the final first-place tally. SEC squads Florida and Vanderbilt were eighth and ninth, respectively.

San Diego State (#15), Texas A&M (#16), North Carolina (#20), Georgia Tech (#22) and Texas Tech (#23) debuted in the ranking. Arizona State, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oregon and USF fell from the top 25.
