POWELL, WY (August 28, 2016) -- John Hornbeck took the lead on the first day of they Wyoming Senior Amateur and then held on during the final round. Hornbeck began the weekend with a 4-under 68 before surviving a 2-over 74 to finish 2-under and ahead of the field by two.

Playing at Powell Golf Club, Hornbeck got his tournament started with a seven birdie, three bogey effort. 2-over after his first five holes holes on Saturday, Hornbeck rolled in birdies on four of the five next holes to reach red figures.

In the final round Hornbeck reached 6-under with a 10th hole birdie but then he started to slide backwards. Over the course of the next four holes the wire-to-wire winner double-bogeyed two holes and bogeyed another.
