JONESBOROUGH, TN (August 12, 2016) -- On Friday Wes Gosselin completed his historic run to the Tennessee State Amateur. Gosselin finished 18-under-par and a record 12-strokes in front of second place finisher Michael Nagy at the Blackthorn Club.

Gosselin left the previous margin of victory mark of eight shots, accomplished by Andrew Pratt in 2004 well in the rear view mirror.

"To be honest, I've never really dealt with that kind of lead. My game plan had been really good, managed myself well all week, so I just tried to play good golf," Gosselin told Chattanooga Athletics. "I didn't really want to think about what someone else was doing. It worked well."

The UT Chattanooga senior posted four consecutive under-par rounds and led by double-digits after the second, third and fourth rounds. Gosselin put together rounds of 67-64-68-71.

On the final day Gosselin played mostly steady golf with three birdies and a double-bogey. Early in the round, with back-to-back birdies on the 3rd and 4th holes Gosselin reached 19-under and matched the Tennessee State Amateur scoring record but his second double-bogey of the week on the 8th dropped her back to 17-under.

Gosselin would get a stroke back on the 9th to turn in 1-under 35 but from there it would be nine consecutive pars to close out the round.

Throughout the week Gosselin tallied a remarkable 25 birdies, just five bogeys and two double-bogeys. Gosselin did most of his damage on the par-4's where he was 9-under.

"It's really nice to play this well," Gosselin said. "It's been an up-and-down summer, so it's great to see it come together. I've worked really hard on my ball-striking and putting. It was also a huge week from the mental side."

Recent Tennessee graduate Michael Nagy matched the round of the day with a 6-under 66 and finished tied for second at 6-under. Nagy began the day even-par and moved into red figures with a birdie on the 4th. Still at 1-under a couple of holes later, Nagy quickly moved to 5-under with eagles on the par-5 8th and 10th holes. From their Nagy birdied two and bogeyed one.

Sharing second place with Nagy is Ole Miss senior Ben Wolcott. One day after shooting a 66, Wolcott fired a 4-under 68 for a final two round 10-under total. Wolcott got his first birdie of the day on 4th and then birdied four straight from Nos. 8-11. His only bogey of the round came on the 16th.

Tennessee Junior Amateur winner Taylor Davis finished 4-under and in fourth while Tim Jackson, Phillip Lee and Clemson commit, Tennessee State Match Play winner, William Nottingham were 3-under in a fifth place tie.
