John Lynch shot a 1-under 70 to win
medalist honors by a shot over David
Sanders, Michael Tobiason Jr. and Brandon
Knaub.

N.Y.
Former junior star Gavin Hall -- who recently
returned to his native New York after leaving
UCLA after enrolling early -- was the only
player to break par at Mendon GC on
Thursday, firing a 1-under 71 to take
medalist honors. Fellow amateur Adam
Condello and Ben Ferguson won a 4-for-2
playoff for the last two automatic spots,
while Lindsay Wilson and Chris Malec are the
alternates.

May 16 - The Baiting Hollow Club,
Calverton, N.Y.
Paul Dickinson was the only player to break
par on Thursday, firing a 1-under 69 to take
medalist honors at the Baiting Hollow Club.
With seven spots on the line, Matthew Lowe
outlasted Andrew Bostrom and James Hazen
in a playoff for the last automatic spot in the
sectionals. Dickinson has worked as PGA
professional.

Greensboro, N.C.
Benjamin Griffin, No. 19 in the
Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings, fired an
impressive 5-under 67 to take medalist
honors in Greensboro, N.C. on Thursday.
Griffin recently finished T-21 at the Junior
Invitational at Sage Valley, as well as won a
state championship in North Carolina.

May 16 - The Bluffs Country Club, St.
Francisville, La.
Sam Burns, ranked No. 34 in the
Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings, fired a 3-
under 69 to take medalist honors. Burns
recently finished seventh at the prestigious
Junior Invitational at Sage Valley, flirting
with the lead for most of the tournament.
Joining Burns as automatic qualifiers for
sectionals were David Griffin and Derek
Sanders.

May 16 - Fox Hollow Golf Club, Trinity,
Fla.
Former Florida State standout Drew
Kittleson, who played in the 2009 Masters
and 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage Black, fired
a 3-under 67 to take medalist honors on
Thursday. Amateur Travis Huston outlasted
Jonathan Mansfield for the final qualifying
spot after they both carded 1-under 69s.

Garrett Jones was the only player to break

in earning a section spot
on Tuesday at
Erin Hills. Jones opened his round with six
consecutive pars, posted
birdie at the par-5
7th, gave it back with a bogey at No. 13, but
birdies at Nos. 14 and 16
put him back out
front. Four of the five qualifiers are from
Wisconsin. The most exciting
part of the round
was the battle for the final two spots, as
seven players posted 1-over
73s. Mike

Web.com tours. Woodson won last year's
Virginia State Open and will appear on Golf

69.
Westmoreland is a junior at Air Force. Irwin
is
the son of three-time U.S. Open winner Hale
Irwin. The former Colorado player qualified
for
his
first U.S. Open at Congressional CC in 2011.
Tolan is a professional who rallied to win the
2012
Colorado Open. Qualifying in a playoff was
former USC player Tom Glissmeyer. He beat
out
Sam
Saunders of Albuquerque, N.M., to advance.
Saunders is first alternate and Kory Harrell is
second alternate.

James Allenby of Langley, B.C., carded two
eagles - including a hole-out on the par-4
10th
hole
- and six birdies en route to a 10-under 61
to
easily qualify for the sectionals, breaking the
club
record in the process. "I knew I was having
an
awesome round. Each time I stood up to the
ball, it felt the same. ... This is huge
momentum (going into the sectional),"
Allenby
told the
Bellingham Herald on Monday. With seven
spots available, Tyler Wong and Jack Kelly
won
a 3-
for-2 playoff with Derek Berg to secure the
final two spots after all three fired 2-under
69s.
Among the notables that failed to qualify was
Washington's Trevor Simsby finished T-15
after
an even-par 71.

Wil Collins of Rapid City, S.D., claimed
medalists honors at Twin Warriors GC. He
shot

66. David Muttitt of England shot 4-under

to claim the second qualifying spot. In 2012
he
won seven tournaments on the Sun Country
PGA Tour. Amateurs Victor Perez of France
and
John Catlin of Gold River, Calif., are the
alternates from this qualifier. Perez is a
sophomore at
New Mexico. Catlin has won back-to-back
Memorial Amateur titles (2011-12).

Ryan Acosta was one of two players to break
par on Monday at the Tom Fazio-designed
track,
firing a 3-under 69 to move on to the
sectionals. With only two spots available,
Hunter Larson
posted a 2-under 70 to grab the final spot,
while amateur Channing Tam is the first
alternate
after a 1-over 73. Kukio plays at more than
7,400 yards from the championship tees and
is
approximately 400 feet above sea level.

Travis Reid and Kevin Tucker tied for
medalist
honors and were the only two to advance
from
this local qualifier with even-par 72s. Reid,
who
went to the New Mexico, turned professional
in
2009. He mainly plays on the Gateway Tour.
Tucker played at Washington State from
2007-
10.
Now he plays on the PGA Tour Canada.
Amateur Brett Walker and Zach Fullerton are
the
alternates.

Gabriel Costa shot a 2-under 68 to capture
medalist honors by a stroke. Costa, who was
runner-up at the 2010 Florida State Match
Play, didn't make it out of local qualifying last
year,
finishing 11th in Vero Beach, Fla. Notables
who
failed to advance include Gary Nicklaus, son
of
Jack Nicklaus; Hank Kuehne, the 1998 U.S.
Amateur champion who finished 65th at the
1999
U.S. Open; and LSU sophomore Curtis
Thompson, brother of LPGA player Lexi
Thompson.
