John Catlin wins Monterey City
- winner of the 2012 Monterey City Championship
MONTEREY – John Catlin won his second title in as many months at the Monterey City Amateur at Del Monte Golf Course. (On Memorial Day weekend, he captured the Golfweek/amateurgolf.com World Rankings event the Memorial Amateur in the Sacramento area).
Catlin, who also won the 2010 NCGA match play championship, posted a 54-hole score of 209 to squeak by second place finisher Brian Knoll at 210.
Zach Adams finished alone in third at 211, while Drew Nelson and Ricky Stockton tied for fourth at 212. Grant Rappleye and Vincent Venard tied for sixth with scores of 213, while Nick Moore, Michael Decker and Alex Bungert round out the top 10. Moore finished in eighth (215), Decker ninth (216) and Bungert 10th (217). In total 96 players played in this year’s championship.
