Berkmeyer wins Crump Cup at Pine Valley

Skip Berkmeyer of St. Louis, MO defeated Gene Elliott of West Des Moines, IA, 1-up to capture one of amateur golf's most prestigious titles

Skip Berkmeyer of Saint Louis, MO won the 85th Annual Crump Memorial Tournament at Pine Valley Golf Club. He defeated the defending champion Michael Muehr 2-Up in his semi-final match and went on to defeat Gene Elliott of West Des Moines, IA 1 Up. He won both matches with a birdie on the final hole. Elliott defeated fellow West Des Moines, IA resident Michael McCoy in Sunday morning’s semi-final in 19 Holes. Pat Tallent of Vienna, VA won the Senior Division 3 & 2 over USA Walker Cup captain Buddy Marucci of Villanova, PA. It should be noted that Marucci captained his team to a second-straight victory under his leadership (and third consecutive overall) and gave up the chance to defend his 2008 USGA Senior Amateur title in order to do so last weekend at Merion.
