SAN FRANCISCO (Feb. 9, 2014) -- Kristopher Server shot a Sunday 68 and took qualifying medalist honors in the Open Division of the 2014 San Francisco City Championship. Server opened with a first-round 75 but bounced back to storm past co-leaders Matthew Seramin and Josh McCarthy. Playing at Lincoln Park and Presidio, the field battled windy and rainy conditions expected at 'The City'. Server will be the No. 1 seed when match play begins Feb. 22. Justin Suh, a junior from San Jose, shot 76-68 to take the No. 2 seed. Suh reached the Round of 16 at the U.S. Junior this past summer before being knocked off by eventual champion Scottie Scheffler. Ryan Knop (73-72), Kory Storer (77-69) and Stephen Sparolini (74-73) rounded out the top five qualifiers. A group of 12 golfers will participate in a playoff for the 64-player field's final 11 spots before the first-round of match play begins. A group of past competitors who have fared well at the San Francisco City Championship in recent years qualified for match play, including Austin Sandoval, the 2013 Sacramento County Stroke Play winner, 2013 City runner-up Isaiah Salinda and six-time amateurgolf.com Tour Player of the Year Randy Haag. The San Francisco City Championship was inaugurated in 1917, and is the Country's oldest municipal golf tournament. Past champions include 1964 U.S. Open Champion Ken Venturi, 1999 U.S. Women's Open Champion Julie Inkster, and 1969 Masters Champion George Archer. Amateurgolf.com will have ongoing and complete coverage of the 2014 San Francisco City Championship, including recaps and results from all divisions.
