Reigning State Am Champ Don DuBois of Newport Beach and his partner Will Tipton of Corona del Mar are tied with Eric Schwarz of Indio and Mark Scheibach of Bermuda Dunes after 1-over-par 73's at the tricky Pala Mesa Resort
FALLBROOK, March 27 — Don DuBois of Newport Beach, the reigning California Amateur champion, and Will Tipton of Corona del Mar fired a 1-over-par 73 today to share the first-round lead at the midpoint of the 4th SCGA Foursomes Championship with Eric Schwarz of Indio and Mark Scheibach of Bermuda Dunes at Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook.
In the alternate-shot format event, the two teams have a one-shot lead over two other teams: Scott Daniels of San Bernardino and John Thornes of Redlands and Keith Kinsel of Glendale and Patrick Carrigan of Walnut. Two other teams shot 3-over-par 75 and are two shots behind the leaders.
The final round is tomorrow (Tuesday) with teams teeing off of Nos. 1 and 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. The leaders will tee off of No. 1 at 9:00 a.m.
