Traveling for business or vacation but don't want to lug your clubs. See if ClubHub rental is right for you

By Dave Agerter, For amateurgolf.com

Planning for a recent vacation, my wife and I were willing to try something new to eliminate the stress of getting our own golf clubs from home to our destination. I learned about ClubHub and decided to check out the online golf club rental service.

Before booking with ClubHub, I checked with FedEx and found that the cost to ship would be about $250 for our twosets if we gave the clubs to FedEx 10 days prior to departing. It would be $500-600 if I shipped them two days before.

Not only were we not interested in paying that amount, we play regularly and did not want to miss 10- 12 days of playing as our clubs were en route.

We could have searched for a more reasonable ground shipping rate but the ClubHub process was extremely easy and efficient.

I went to ClubHub.com and set up the arrival and departure dates. I completed the easy to follow instructions and provided my payment information. I did this about 20 days before I was to leave.

One day after arranging the order, I received a confirmation. On the day the clubs shipped, I received the notification of shipment along with the FedEx tracking information. At this point I felt things were going as planned so I did not follow up with FedEX since in my business experience they always delivered!

Once we arrived at our destination, we called the front desk and found that the clubs were in storage at the hotel. They were brought to our room.

We opened the boxes and found clean, new sets of TaylorMade Rocketballz woods and Rocketbladez irons. Our expectations were exceeded. We were also provided 12 TaylorMade balls.

The return process was equally efficient. We just cleaned the clubs and placed them in the reusable containers, locked the lock and gave them to the front desk. FedEx was contacted by ClubHub to make the pick up. We went on our way to the airport.

Three days or so after we arrived home I got an email indicating that ClubHub received the return in good condition and the process was completed.

This was truly a process and company I would recommend to others not willing to lug clubs through airports and rental car buses.
