Burda, Richart take Giddings Cup
LA QUINTA, Calif. (April 15, 2013) -- Jeff Buda and John Richart rolled to the title at the 31st annual Giddings Cup last weekend.
Played at SilverRock Resort, La Quinta Country Club and Mountain View Country Club, the Giddings Cup displayed an impressive effort by the winners, who prevailed by five shots thanks to a final-round 64.
Burda and Richart opened play with a 66 and led after Round 1. A second-round 73 evened the scales a bit before Sunday's 64 put it out of distance for runners-up Tom Phillips and Doug Potter (69-71-68--208, -8).
Jerry Greenbaum and Chris Maletis (69-75-65--209, -7) were tied for third place alongside Jerry Kent and John Gallacher.
Bruce Caldwell and Jack Peat (Landmark Flight) and Bob Howe and Bob Fouke (Super Seniors) were also winners.
