Defending Champions Nick Mansell and Jarryd Dillas (69) lead by one
PORT ROYAL, Bermuda (Nov. 16, 2012) -- The first round of the Bermuda Amateur Four Ball Championships took place today at the Port Royal Golf Club.
Defending Champions in the men's division, Nick Mansell and Jarryd Dillas came in the last group of the day with the best score of 2 under par (69) to edge out all day leaders Richard Neame and Ben Hodge who shot 1 under (70) in the first group of the day.
Hot on their heels are last years runners up Rod Forest and Kirk Viehl who are even par (71). Three strong teams sit on a score of 74 and are still in contention.
In the ladies division, Katrin Burnie and Wendy Salvia share the first round lead with scores of 82. Sylvia Tavaras and Donna Jones are 3 shots behind them on 85 while Joan Wood-Cassidy and Carla Mann-O'Callaghan on 86.
The second round continues tomorrow morning in what is expected to be perfect weather conditions before "Mother Nature" plans to show up for the final round on Sunday.
The public are invited to come and watch the action at the Port Royal Golf Club. There is no charge to watch.
