Registration Still Open for the North Texas Amateur

AUSTIN, TX (April 18, 2006)--amateurgolf.com is now accepting entries for its newest tournament, the North Texas Amateur, to be played at The Golf Club at Castle Hills in Lewisville, TX on June 3-4, 2006. Amateurgolf.com currently has 18 tournaments scheduled for 2006, primarily in California but also at destinations like Kiawah Island and Bandon Dunes. The North Texas Amateur will be amateurgolf.com’s first event in Texas.

The North Texas Amateur will have three divisions: Championship (5.5 handicap or less), Senior Championship (8.0 handicap or less and age 50 and over), and Net (5.5 to 15.0 handicap). Play will be 18 holes of stroke play Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday with no cut.

In addition to the prizes offered in each division, exemptions into the 2006 Trans-Mississippi Championship, to be played July 10-16 at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, will be awarded to 2-4 mid-amateurs in the Championship Division, and 1-2 players in the Senior Division, depending on the final size of the tournament field.

The North Texas Amateur is a Texas Amateur Rankings points event.

The Golf Club at Castle Hills was designed by Jay Morrish and opened for play in 1999. The course is one of the best public layouts in the region, and is known for its excellent course conditions. Castle Hills has proven itself as a championship test, having hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying School and U.S. Open Qualifying.

ABOUT THE amateurgolf.com 2006 North Texas Amateur

A 36-hole medal play event with scratch, senior scratch, and handicap divisions. The host club, The Club at Castle Hills, is one of the top daily fee courses in the DFW Metroplex. Part of the amateurgolf.com Tournament Series.

Entry fee: $240
Includes two rounds of golf, green fees with cart, practice balls and generous prize fund.

In addition, exemptions into the 2006 Trans-Mississippi Championship, to be played July 10-16 at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, will be awarded to 2-4 mid-amateurs in the Championship Division, and 1-2 players in the Senior Division, depending on the final size of the tournament field. To utilize an exemption, a player be a member of a Trans-Mississippi Golf Association club or join The Golf Club at Castle Hills at the expense of $99 to satisfy the membership requirement.

Practice rounds will be available starting May 22, for which a special reduced rate will be offered by Castle Hills. Details will be available when the field is finalized.
