Alexandra Bodemann goes the distance, edging Olivia Briggs on the 21st hole of their finals match
FT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA (January 21, 2006) -- Alexandra Bodemann won the Doherty/Jones Challenge Cup in sudden death, edging Olivia Briggs on the 21st hole.
For Bodemann, No. 41 in the Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings, it was her closest match since a 2-up victory in the second round over Stefanie Kenoyer. In the semifinals, Bodemann beat 12-year-old Kyle Roig, 5 and 4.
Bodemann finished tied for seventh at last week's South Atlantic Amateur.
Seven-time USGA champion Carol Semple Thompson won the senior division, defeating Vicki Thomas 3 and 2.
