Burda, Davis win at Calif. State Fair Senior
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 3, 2012) -- Jeff Burda, Modesto, won the Senior Championship, repeating his success in this event last year as 2011 champion.

Burda posted 68 on Saturday, then a 71 on Sunday to take the title by three over Dave Baskins.

Baskins won the County Senior at Ancil Hoffman earlier this year.

3rd State Fair Super Senior Scratch Championship

Mike Davis, El Dorado Hills, won the Super Senior Scratch with a blistering 139, carding five-under in the final round.

Davis won by seven strokes over Terry Coffee, Rob Thompson, and Bob Olds.

ABOUT THE California State Fair Senior

The 26th annual California State Fair Senior Championship and 13th annual California State Fair Super Senior Championship will be contested on Saturday and Sunday, September 3-4, 2022 at Mather Golf Course.

The tournament is played at scratch and is open to male amateur golfers 55 and older with a current handicap index of 7.4 or less (Senior) and 65 and older with an index of 9.4 and less (Super Senior). The Super Senior division will also include a Legends flight for ages 75 and above.

The entry fee is $190 and includes two days of green fees, range balls and awards (power carts not included). Tee time intervals will be 10 minutes.

The competition will be stroke play over 36 holes (18 holes each day). Seniors will play approximately 6,500 yards (shortened Bomber/Black tees) and the Super Seniors will play approximately 6,200 yards (combo of Raptor/Blue tees and Navigator/Silver tees). If COVID-19 protocols permit, a tie for the championship (Senior or Super Senior) will be resolved with a playoff.

The entry deadline is August 24, 2022. There will be no refunds after this date. Withdrawals prior to the entry deadline will be assessed a $10 cancellation fee.
