Featured Player: Jake Grodzinsky - of Duke University
DURHAM, NC (November 30, 2005)--Junior Jake Grodzinsky of Duke University has been named to the Golf World mid-season All-America team. The Cornville, AZ, native posted top-10 finishes in all four tournaments for the Blue Devils this fall and led the team in stroke average (71.3), under-par rounds (8) and birdies (46).
Grodzinsky opened the fall with a 75-69-69=213 to finished tied for ninth at the NCAA Fall Preview. He then posted a seven-under, 209 (70-69-70) to finish fifth at the Duke Classic. He birdied No. 17 on the final day of the classic and sank a downhill eight-footer for par on No. 18 to secure a one-shot victory for Duke in its lone home tournament of the year.
At the Isleworth Classic, Grodzinsky shot 71-73-76=220 to finish tied for eighth. In the final fall tournament, he shot 70-71-72=213 to finish in a seventh place tie at the Carpet Capital Classic.
Grodzinsky's strong fall season continued over the Thanksgiving break when he fired a course-record 62 at Seven Canyons in Sedona, AZ. His 62 topped the previous course record held by Ben Hayes by three strokes.
