The Northridge player's low final round catapults him to the winner's circle

IRVINE, Calif. (July 22, 2012) -- Sam Yi of Northridge, CA, also an amateurgolf.com member, took home the Irvine City title played at Strawberry Farms Golf Club with a final round 66. After opening round 70's were posted by co-leaders Brian Campbell, defending champion, Pete Fernandez, Gregory Garcia and D.J. Schlutz, Yi found himself three strokes off the pace. A second round 6-under-par 66 moved him to the top of the leader board finishing at 139, three strokes clear of second place finisher, Brian Campbell at 142 (70-72.) Defending champion, Pete Fernandez struggled with a final round 75 and tournament total 145 (70-75) to finish in a tie for third with Cameron Ward 145 (74-71.) Amateurgolf.com contributor, Kyle Rector finished in a tie for sixth at 149 (76-73.)
