Rappleye reigns at Sacramento County

Cameron Rappleye gets the win while Austin Roberts and Joshua Stone place 2nd and 3rd

CARMICHAEL, Calif. (July 22, 2012) -- With temperatures in the high 90's, typical for the Sacramento Valley in the late July, Cameron Rappleye was just as hot at the 48th Sacramento County championship. Rappleye, a longtime amateurgolf.com member from Elk Grove, CA fired an opening round 6-under-par 66 on Saturday at Ancil Hoffman Golf Club and never looked back. The Sac State senior followed up with a final round 70 for a 136, winning by a 4 stroke margin. Austin Roberts, the 2008 California State Amateur runner-up from Carmichael, shot 140 (72-68,) good enough for second place. Roberts also took second place at the amateurgolf.com Diablo Valley Amateur earlier this year. There was a tie for third at 142 between another AGC member, Joshua Stone of Stockton (70-72) and Lee Gearhart of Woodcreek, a Granite Bay High School student (72-70.) Stone won the Davis City Championship in April and the Stockton city last year.
