Jalen Ledger grabs the lead at five-under par in the 58th Florida State Boys Junior

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. (July 11, 2012) -- Jalen Ledger grabs the lead at five-under par in the 58th Florida State Boys Junior Championship as Andy Zhang leads the 13-15 age division heading into the final round of play at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach. In the 16-18 age division, Jalen Ledger, of Palm Beach Gardens, will take a one stroke lead heading into the final round of play with a 36-hole total of 139. After his first round of three-under par 69 on the Dye’s Valley course at TPC Sawgrass, Ledger found himself trailing the first round leader, Ryan Stovash, of Orlando, by two strokes. Playing Sawgrass Country Club in the second round, Ledger got off to a hot start with birdies on 1, 4, 5, and 7, to go with only one bogey to turn at three-under par 33. Ledger held it together on the back nine fighting off a bogey and a double bogey, with two birdies on 11 and 18, for this round of two-under par 70. Trailing Ledger by only one stroke is the 2010 (16-18) Champion, Hank Lebioda, of Winter Springs. Lebioda followed up his first round of three-under par 69 on the Dye’s Valley Course with a solid round of one-under par 71 at Sawgrass Country Club, for a 36-hole total of four-under par 140. Ryan Orr, of Belleair, and Harrison Winger, of Orlando, are tied for third place with a two round total of three-under par 141. The Defending Champion Hunter O’Mahony, of Tequesta, is currently tied for 16th place after his rounds of 73-75. Forty-nine juniors in the 16-18 age division advanced to play the final 18-holes at Sawgrass Country Club with a two-round total of 155 and better. In the 13-15 age division, Andy Zhang, of Reunion, stands at four-under par 140 after 36-holes of play, and will take a two stroke lead into the final round. Zhang who recently competed in the U.S. Open Championship as the youngest competitor in the 112 years of the event, posted a two-under par round of 70 at Sawgrass Country Club in the first round to grab a share of the lead. In the second round of play, Zhang continued his solid play on the Dye’s Valley course, recorded a two-under par round of 70, which included three birdies and only one bogey. Jack Comstock, of Jacksonville, stands alone in second place after a two round total of two-under par 142. Kevin Slayden, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is in third place after rounds of 75-68 for a 36-hole total of 143. Slayden’s second round of four-under par 68 is the low round of the Championship in the 13-15 age division. Twenty-one juniors in the 13-15 age division advanced to the final day posting a two-round total of 153 and better.
