Member of host Los Angeles Country Club withstood a number of solid final-rounds to win the Inaugural George C. Thomas Invitational

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 4, 2012) -- Brad Shaw, a member of the host club, used a second-round 67 and withstood a number of solid final-rounds to win the 2012 George C. Thomas Invitational at the North Course at Los Angeles Country Club. Shaw (70-67-75--212) outpaced a trio of second-place finishers to claim the prestigious title. Robert Gerwin II (68-72-73--213), Bryan Norton (70-70-73--213) and Joe Sanders (71-71-70--213) all finished one shot back and tied for second. Tim Mickelson (69-74-73--216) was alone in fourth place. According to the Southern California Golf Association, George C. Thomas, Jr.was a legendary golf course architect who designed the courses for Bel-Air Country Club, The Los Angeles Country Club, Riviera Country Club and others in the 1920s. Thomas was a prominent rose breeder on the East Coast before gaining fame as a golf course designer. He was one of the great architects of courses in Southern California. In addition to the courses noted above, he designed those of Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, Palos Verdes Golf Club and Red Hill Country Club, among others.
