Walter Todd Wins Mid-Am Title
GREENWOOD, SC (October 9, 2005) --Walter Todd was a man on a mission in the final round of the SCGA Mid Amateur Championship shooting a final round eight under par 64 to win the 2005 title by three shots.
Walter Todd, a resident of Laurens, shot nines of 33 – 31 to finalize the rain shortened Mid Amateur. Todd’s bogey free round of 64 included eight birdies and all pars. The Musgrove Mill member finished three shots ahead of first round leader Chip Whitt of Greenwood and Bert Atkinson of Charleston. Atkinson’s final round of 67 included a hole in one on the 167 yard par three sixth hole.
The 2005 SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship was played over the par 72 - 6,762 yard Greenwood Country Club course in Greenwood, SC. The field consisted of 114 players over the age of 30 and was shortened to a 36-hole event due to a rained out first round. The Mid-Amateur Championship is one of 17 Major Championships conducted by the South Carolina Golf Association and is in its 24th year of existence.
