Two aces on same hole at Pasatiempo
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (Oct 27, 2011) -- Santa Cruz's Sandy Woodruff, 62, and Pebble Beach's Marianne Towersey, 60, have waged battles on golf courses across the nation for more than a decade, including two matches against each other at the United States Golf Association's Senior Women's Amateur.
The longtime friends waged another epic battle in a skins match at Pasatiempo Golf Club on Thursday in Santa Cruz and accomplished a once-in-a-lifetime feat.
Woodruff -- the owner of Valley Gardens Golf Course in Scotts Valley and a 17-time women's club champion at Pasatiempo -- recorded her 11th career ace on the 155-yard eighth hole. Not to be outdone, Towersey, medalist during stroke play at the 2001 U.S. Senior Women's Am in Sewickley, Pa., stepped to the tee and followed with her seventh career ace.
