Set to open May 1, 2012, The Preserve at Bandon Dunes will likely be one of the worlds best par-3 courses
Players in last years Two Man Links championship could see the construction going on adjacent to the 18th hole at Bandon Dunes. It was the new Preserve at Bandon Dunes, a par three course being set up for an opening date of May 1, 2012.
With construction much further along Alex Miceli of golf week got a look at new layout, and he liked what he saw.
Bill Coore of Bandon Trails and The Preserve architect said: “I think whether players use it to introduce themselves to golf at Bandon, meaning learning how to deal with fescue greens and the tight lies around the greens and the way the ball goes and how far it runs on the ground or how much the wind affects it, that would be an extraordinary use of the par 3 to be an introductory to golf at Bandon Dunes.”
It's another chapter in the "if you build it they will come" story of the Bandon Dunes Resort.
