Sandy Harper of Nanaimo, B.C. and Stephen Lee of Everett, Wash. are atop the leaderboard at 9-under par

EVERETT, Wash.. (Sept 15, 2011) -- Sandy Harper of Nanaimo, B.C. and Stephen Lee of Everett, Wash. are atop the leaderboard at 9-under par heading into the final round of the 27th Annual Pacific Northwest Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship conducted by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association (PNGA) at Everett Golf and Country Club in Everett, Wash. Harper, the 2007 Champion and first round leader, backed up his explosive first round of 7-under par 65 with a 2-under par 70 today for a two-day total of 9-under par 135. Lee, the 2011 Washington State Mid-Amateur Champion, was the only player in the field to post consecutive rounds in the 60’s as he followed up his first round 6-under par 66 with a 3-under par 69 also bringing his two-day total to 9-under par 135. Harper and Lee will be joined in the final pairing tomorrow with Returning Champion Dan Whitaker of Cle Elum, Wash. who is two shots behind the leaders at 7-under par 137. Other notables in the hunt for the title tomorrow are; 2002 Champion Erik Hanson of Kirkland, Wash. who is three shots off the lead, 2001 Champion Alex Stamey of Mill Creek, Wash. and 2009 Champion Michael Haack of Bellevue, Wash., who are both seven shots behind the leaders. The field was cut from 93 players today to the low 60 scores and ties for the final round tomorrow. In all 62 players made the final cut at 12-over par 156. More cool conditions are in store for players tomorrow on the historic par 72, 6,208 yard championship layout. The final round commences tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. from the #1 tee.
