The 2011 DragonRidge Amateur is complete and the event was a great success. 61 total golfers participated in the one day event at the private DragonRidge Country Club in Henderson, NV. There were three divisions that competed including Net (Open), Senior, and Super Senior. In the Net (Open) division, Flight 1 belonged to Ben Spoor who shot a Net 73 (+1) to defeat Cy Fernandez by 1 shot. Max Marsico fired a scratch 71 (-1) which put him in 3rd place at Net 75 (+3). Michael Link fired a blistering Net 67 (-5) to win the Open 2 flight and the overall Net (Open) crown. Link bested the Open 2 flight by 6 shots over second place Dennis Moore who shot Net 73 (+1). Barry Isaacs finished in third at Net 76 (+4). In the Senior Division, Frank Acker got back to his familiar winning ways with a 1 under 71 (-1) to best the scratch field by 4 over second place finishers Steve Fink and John Turk who both fired 75 (+3). In the Net portion of the Senior competition, Bill Montgomery "Monte" fired a Net 69 (-3) to best Frank Acker by 4 Shots. Burke Cahill and John Turk finished tied for 3rd with Net 75 (+3). The Super Senior Division provided some playoff drama that lasted 4 sudden death playoff holes before Jim Miller could fend off Ralph Durgin to take the crown. Both Miller and Durgin fired 77 (+5) to get themselves into the playoff for scratch champion and it was a great battle to determine the winner. Sev Leoffler finished in third place shooting 82 (+10). In the Net portion of the Super Senior Competition, long time SNGA player and representative Mike Bridges shined shooting a Net 73 (+1) to win by one shot over Ralph Durgin who shot Net 74 (+2). Jim Cail finished in 3rd at Net 75 (+3). The SNGA would like to thank all the volunteers that participated in the event and helped make it such a success. We would also like to thank the DragonRidge Country Club staff for being so generous. Finally we would like to thank our sponsors, Metlife Auto & Home, Las Vegas Golf & Tennis, and Roy's Hawaiian Fusion for supporting our 2011 Tournament Season. Congratulations to the winners and we look forward to seeing you at the 2011 Boulder Creek Amateur in September.
