Defending champion Patrick Christovich leads by three going into final round

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (Aug. 6, 2011) -- Defending champion Patrick Christovich of New Orleans played 27 holes in six-under par at English Turn G & CC Saturday, finishing up his first round of six-under par 66 then following that up with a one-under par 71 second round to finish 36 holes at seven-under par 137 and lead Harlan Bush of New Orleans and T.C. Ford of Mandeville by three shots with 18 holes left to play. Christovich completed the last nine holes of his first round Saturday morning by firing a five-under 31 on the back nine to fashion his 66, then after about an hour break, headed back to work and fired his second round 71. He stands in an almost identical position as a year ago when he took a four-shot cushion into the final round of play in last year’s Championship at Southern Trace CC in Shreveport. Afternoon play on Friday was suspended at around 3 PM, and due to over two inches of rain wasn’t resumed until 8:20 AM on Saturday morning. Once first round play was complete, the second round began on a three-hour delay from the originally scheduled starting times, commencing at 10:30 AM. With the last starting time set to begin at 4:39 PM there was not much chance to complete the entire second round before dark descended on those still on the course Saturday evening. Those not completing play Saturday will return at 7:30 AM on Sunday to finish their second rounds. Once second round play is complete, the field will be cut to the low 60 scorers and ties, those making the cut re-paired, and the third round started soon thereafter. Third round play will start off both #1 and #10 tees with the leaders scheduled to go off around 10:30 AM off #1.
