Manteca City Senior: Thompson, Olds prevail

Amateurgolf.com members Rob Thomson and Bob Olds win their flights in Manteca
MANTECA, Calif. (July 3, 2011) -- Score another victory for an amateurgolf.com member. Rob Thompson of Merced was the winner of the Manteca City Senior Championship with a two day total 138. Thompson was six strokes clear of second place finishers John Enright and Tom Marks who shot 144. Fourth place went to Gary Conklin with a 147.
Thompson, who recently tied for first in both the Fresno City and Santa Clara County, but lost in playoffs, shot a 71 on Saturday. No playoff was needed this time. In his final round he was 5-under par on the front nine and held on to finish with a 67 and a six stroke margin of victory.
Thompson, 64, said, "It's nice to win at my age."
Bob Olds of Brentwood, another long time amateurgolf.com member, won the super senior flight with a 151, two ahead of Jim Welsh.
