PNGA Amateur PubLinks Champions crowned

KENT, WA (August 28, 2005) -- Three champions were identified Sunday at Riverbend Golf Complex in Kent, Wash. for the PNGA Amateur Public Links Championships. In the Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship, Christine Cho of Kent, Wash came back from a two-stroke deficit by carding a second round 2-over par 74 edging four other women by one stroke to finish at 7-over par 151 and win her first PNGA Women’s Amateur Public Links. Catherine Kim, Bellevue, Wash, Ginny Burkey, Fircrest, Wash., Sheena Prante, Olympia, Wash., and Sue Phimchinda, Spanaway, Wash., all finished at 152. In the Senior Men’s Championship, Jim Gibbons of Wilsonville, Ore. continued his strong play by carding a second round 3-over par 74 to finish at 6-over par 148 to edge Kent Brown of Colville, Wash. by one stroke to win his first PNGA Senior Amateur Public Links. In the PNGA Men’s Amateur Public Links Championship, Bob Burton of Everett, Wash. blew away the field by five shots carding another 2-under par 69 to shoot back to back 69’s and finish at 4-under par 138 and win the PNGA Men’s Amateur Public Links. Burton was the only player to finish under par for the 36-hole championship. Josh Immordino, of Auburn, Wash., was runner up with a two day total 1-over par 143.
