Baskins takes Sac County Senior
CARMICHAEL, Calif. (May 11, 2011) -- Dave Baskins, of El Macero CC, is the 2011 Sacramento County Senior Champion. Even par on Tuesday, Baskins was five strokes behind Jim Knoll, who scored 67. He then matched Knoll's score on Wednesday to win by just one shot.
Noteable Casey Boyns competed this year, coming in six shots back.
Bob Rowland, from the Super Senior Flight, shot 154 to take the honors for those over the age of 65. Rowland defeated Bob Olds in the first playoff hole. Three players tied for second place at one-stroke back.
Bob Fries, of Ft. Washington, aced the 17th hole on Sunday. He has collected five aces in the last 14 months, and all with the same club. Pretty amazing guy.
Sixty-three players competed over two days of great weather.

ABOUT THE Sacramento County Senior
The 47th annual County Senior & Super Senior Men's
Championship at Ancil Hoffman
Golf
Course on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 4 and 5,
2020. The tournament is open to all male
amateur golfers age 55 and older as of August 4,
2020,
who are members of an organized golf club
with an established USGA handicap index of 9.4 or
less. There will be two separate flights -
Seniors (age 55-64) and Super Seniors (age 65 and
older). The Super Senior flight will also include a
Legends division (age 75 and
older).
The entry fee is $165 per player and includes two
days green fees, range balls both days and
awards - power cart not included.
The entry
deadline
is July 27 and there will be no refunds
after this date.
The tournament format is 36 holes of stroke play –
18 holes each day. Ties for champion in both
flights will be decided in a sudden death playoff. All
other ties will be divided evenly by the sum
of the combined places. The lowest 36-hole gross
scores in the respective flights will be declared
the County Sr. and Super Senior Men’s
Champion. The names will be inscribed on the
perpetual trophy.
