Roddy Ranch Am: Haag, Knoll winners
ANTIOCH, Calif. (Nov. 24, 2010) -- Haag distanced himself from the field early on a beautiful Sunday morning with an early barrage of birdies (4 on the front 9), after surviving a tricky wind on Saturday. His 73, 68, 141 total was good for a two shot victory over hard charging former NCGA Match Play Champion, Cal graduate, and current graduate-assistant at USF George Gandranata. George shot a -4, 32 on his final 9 holes and shot 143 for two days. The wind played havoc on the field on Saturday, with no one shooting better than 73. There were 12 people that started the day within 2 shots of the lead.
For this weekend, red was Jim Knoll's favorite color. The senior division championship was a 3 shot stroll for Mr. Knoll, whose 69 on Saturday was the only score in red figures. He followed that up with another red 71 for a -4 total of 140. Coming in second was the 2010 NorCal Senior player of the year Mark Miller at 143. Soon to be 71 year old Bobby Olds tied for third with Mike Harding at 149.
The course was in very good condition and many thanks goes out to GM Kevin Fitzgerald's staff, including Scott Barrow (head pro), Johnny Ramirez (tournament director), and Ryan Zuehlsdorf (superintendent).
