AUSTIN, Texas (Sept 21, 2010) -- The professional team held off a spirited rally by the amateurs to win the 14th Hannon Cup Matches Tuesday at Austin Country Club.

The pros took a commanding 10-4 lead going into Tuesday's singles matches. However, midway through Tuesday's final round the title was up for grabs.

The amateurs bounced back to win nine of Tuesday's 14 singles matches, but that was not quite enough. The pros held on for a 15-13 victory in the annual Ryder Cup-style competition between Austin-area pros and amateurs.

Lonny Alexander, director of instruction at Onion Creek Club, notched an early win for the pros with a 1-up victory over Nicholas Cristea. He finished the competition with a perfect 3-0 record.

Phillip Miranda, first assistant at Great Hills Golf Club, also recorded a 3-0 mark for the pros. He defeated Greg Meserole 2-up in Tuesday's singles.
