Peterman Runs Away with Monroe Invitational Title

PITTSFORD, NY (June 19, 2010)--Kyle Peterman of Sherman, IL cruised home with a five-shot win in the Monroe Invitational, closing with a 2-over 72 to finish at 11-under-par 269.

Starting the day with a three-shot lead, Peterman managed to extend his lead despite not recording a single birdie in his final round. His closest pursuer, Justin Shin of Canada, faded with a 75 and ultimately finished third behind fellow Canadian Cam Burke.

Peterman's biggest previous accomplishment as an amateur was qualifying for the 2009 U.S. Open Championship at Bethpage State Park.

Small-field invitational event played on a great par 70 Donald Ross course. 72 hole stroke play championship dates back to 1937. No cut. Once the final field is determined by the MIC Selection Committee, official invitations will be issued. Invited players will be provided with a code to register using the AmateurGolf.com website.
