The 44th Match will be played June 12-14, with the United States trying to win back the Cup from Great Britain & Ireland.
The Curtis Cup returns this week with a setting worthy of the moment: Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, California. The 44th Match will be played June 12-14, with the United States trying to win back the Cup from Great Britain & Ireland.
GB&I is the defending champion after its dramatic 10.5-9.5 victory at Sunningdale Golf Club in 2024. That result snapped a three-match winning streak for the United States and gave this year’s Match a clear storyline: can Team USA reclaim the Cup on home soil?
The Americans enter with considerable firepower. All eight U.S. players are ranked inside the top 40 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, led by Kiara Romero, Farah O’Keefe and Asterisk Talley, who are all inside the top 10. GB&I, meanwhile, brings back key pieces from its 2024 victory and will again play under major champion and Solheim Cup-winning captain Catriona Matthew.
| Dates | June 12-14, 2026 |
| Venue | Bel-Air Country Club, Los Angeles, Calif. |
| Match | United States vs. Great Britain & Ireland |
| Course setup | 6,284 yards, par 70 |
| Defending champion | Great Britain & Ireland |
| Overall record | United States leads, 31-9-3 |
The Curtis Cup is a biennial match-play competition between the United States and Great Britain & Ireland. Each side features eight female amateur players and a captain, with the Match alternating between the United States and Great Britain or Ireland.
The Cup was first played in 1932 and has long served as a proving ground for future stars. Past Curtis Cup players include major champions, Solheim Cup players and some of the most accomplished amateurs in the history of the women’s game.
While the United States owns a commanding lead in the overall series, GB&I has momentum after winning the 2024 Match at Sunningdale. Because GB&I currently holds the Cup, it needs 10 points to retain it. Team USA needs 10.5 points to take it back.
Bel-Air Country Club will play to 6,284 yards and a par of 70, with a 36-34 split across the two nines. The exact yardage can change by session depending on course setup and conditions.
Designed by George C. Thomas with assistance from William P. Bell, Bel-Air opened in 1927. The course has changed over the years, with work from Dick Wilson, Robert Trent Jones and Tom Fazio, before Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design restored it closer to Thomas’ original design in 2017.
This will be the fourth USGA championship held at Bel-Air. The club previously hosted the 1976 U.S. Amateur, the 2004 U.S. Senior Amateur and the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur, where Megan Schofill defeated Latanna Stone in the championship match.
The first two days will feature team sessions, with three four-ball matches in the morning and three foursomes matches in the afternoon. Sunday brings eight singles matches, where the Cup will be decided.
Four-ball means each player plays her own ball and the better score from each side counts. Foursomes is alternate shot, with two players on each side playing one ball. Each match is worth one point, and matches tied after 18 holes are worth a half point to each team.

Meghan Stasi returns as captain of the United States after the narrow 2024 loss at Sunningdale. Stasi is a four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur champion and was part of the victorious 2008 U.S. Curtis Cup team at the Old Course at St. Andrews.
Catriona Matthew is back as GB&I captain after guiding her side to the 2024 victory. Matthew won the 2009 Women’s British Open, played in three Curtis Cups as an amateur and later captained Europe to Solheim Cup wins in 2019 and 2021.
Team USA brings a deep roster with elite WAGR strength, college success and major amateur experience. The group includes three top-10 amateurs and several players who have already competed on some of the biggest stages in women’s golf.
| Player | Quick note |
|---|---|
| Anna Davis | 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion and 2024 Curtis Cup player. |
| Kary Hollenbaugh | Ohio State standout and Curtis Cup rookie with multiple collegiate wins. |
| Jasmine Koo | USC All-American making her second Curtis Cup appearance. |
| Farah O’Keefe | Texas star and 2026 NCAA individual champion. |
| Kiara Romero | World No. 1 amateur and low amateur at the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open. |
| Asterisk Talley | 17-year-old standout who defeated then-No. 1 Lottie Woad in 2024 Curtis Cup singles. |
| Avery Weed | Mississippi State All-American making her Curtis Cup debut. |
| Kelly Xu | Stanford standout with a 7-1 career match-play record at the NCAA Championship. |
GB&I does not have the same top-end ranking profile as the United States, but Matthew’s team has experience, strong collegiate form and the confidence of holding the Cup. Patience Rhodes and Beth Coulter return from the 2024 winning side.
| Player | Quick note |
|---|---|
| Beth Coulter | Arizona State player and returning member of GB&I’s 2024 Curtis Cup win. |
| Sophia Fullbrook | Florida State standout with three collegiate wins this year. |
| Lily Hirst | 2024 English Women’s Open Amateur Stroke Play champion. |
| Isla McDonald-O’Brien | Arizona State player and 2025 Women’s Amateur quarterfinalist. |
| Charlotte Naughton | Youngest player on the team and Junior Orange Bowl champion. |
| Nellie Ong | Ohio State player with strong Vagliano Trophy and collegiate form. |
| Patience Rhodes | Highest-ranked GB&I player and returning member of the 2024 team. |
| Davina Xanh | Cal State Fullerton player entering Bel-Air in strong form. |
On paper, the United States has the deeper roster. Romero, O’Keefe and Talley give the Americans three top-10 amateurs, and the rest of the lineup is filled with college winners, All-Americans and players with international team experience.
GB&I’s 2024 victory was decided by a single point. Matthew’s side does not need to win outright to keep the Cup; a 10-10 tie would be enough for GB&I to retain it.
Foursomes often creates the biggest swings in team match play. With only three foursomes matches each afternoon on Friday and Saturday, every pairing decision will carry weight.
Eight points are available in the final session, which means the Match can change quickly. If the first two days are close, Sunday at Bel-Air could produce another finish like Sunningdale.
The United States dominated much of the recent stretch, winning in 2018, 2021 and 2022, including a commanding 15.5-4.5 victory at Merion in 2022. GB&I answered in 2024, producing four of the six available points on Saturday and then holding off the Americans in Sunday singles to win by one.
That narrow margin adds to the intrigue at Bel-Air. Team USA has the ranking advantage and the home crowd. GB&I has the Cup, a proven captain and enough returning experience to believe it can handle another close finish.
The 2026 Curtis Cup has nearly everything you could want: elite amateur talent, a classic Los Angeles venue, international team match play and a revenge storyline for the United States. If Team USA’s depth shows up early, the Americans will have a strong chance to reclaim the Cup. If GB&I can keep the Match tight into Sunday, the defending champions will have every chance to leave Bel-Air with the Cup still in hand.

Officially named "The Women's International Cup," the first Curtis Cup wasn't officially held until 1932. The biennial competition features the best female players from the United States of America pitted against a similar squad from Great Britain an...
