An amazing group of 19 amateurs include 11 who qualified and another 8 who were exempted on various criteria
The 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club will feature a talented group of amateur golfers representing the highest levels of college, junior, and international competition. The field includes U.S. Amateur and U.S. Junior Amateur champions, the NCAA individual champion, the world's top-ranked amateur, and a collection of players who survived Final Qualifying—golf's famed "Longest Day."
Below is a look at every amateur in the field, organized by those who advanced through qualifying (11) and followed by those who earned exemptions into the championship (8).
QUALIFIERS
Ryder Cowan
Ballenlsles Country Club (Florida) | Score: 71-66-138 | Edmond, Oklahoma | Oklahoma
Cowan survived a 3-for-2 playoff at Ballenlsles to advance to the US Open with a score of -6. Cowan made 8 birdies on his second 18 to get into the playoff.
Marek Fleming
Del Paso Country Club (California) Qualifying | Score: 69-69-138 | Tomball, Texas | South Carolina
Fleming’s par save on his 18th hole of the day ensured there would be no 6-for-1 playoff, and the South Carolina sophomore is off to Merion. After failing to qualify for the U.S. Am match play in a playoff, Fleming made sure there would be none of that on Monday.
Vaughn Harber
Lakes Golf and Country Club (Ohio) Final Qualifying | Score: 67-68-135 | Blacklick, Ohio |Ohio State
Harber survived a 3-for-2 playoff at Lakes Golf and Country Club to qualify for the US Open at a score of -9. Harber, the sophomore at Ohio State, was one of two Buckeyes to make it through final qualifying alongside Neal Shipley.
Chase Kyes
Hawks Ridge Golf Club | Score: 67-66-133| Birmingham, Alabama | Tennessee
The Tennessee freshman’s score of -11 was enough to get him into Shinnecock. After his round, Kyes told the Golf Channel he “had no idea” the U.S. Open begins next week.
Eric Lee
Del Paso Country Club (California) Final Qualifying | Score: 69-67-136| Fullerton, California | Oklahoma State
Lee’s 2nd round 66 was good enough for 2nd place at the Sacramento qualifier. The US Amateur Semifinalist and National Champion joins Preston Stout – who earned his exemption by winning the NCAA Individual title – and Ethan Fang – who got in by winning the 2025 British Amateur – as current Oklahoma State golfers to punch their ticket to the US Open.
Jackson Ormond
Gaston Country Club (North Carolina) | Score: 65-63-128 | Webster, New York |Florida Signee
Ormond captured co-medalist honors at Gaston Country Club on Monday with a score of -12. After graduating from high school last week, Ormond will compete at Shinecock after winning both his local qualifier and the final qualifier. The New York native will tee it up at his first major and second USGA event next week.
Giuseppe Puebla
Ballenlsles Country Club (Florida) Medalist | Score: 68-68-137 | Royal Palm Beach, Florida | Florida Commit
Puebla was one of 2 amateurs to win medalist honors at the final qualifier with a score of 7-under. Puebla, the Junior Ryder Cup winner and top-ranked golfer in the Class of 2027, started his 1st round with two-straight bogeys and then went on to make just two bogeys over the next 36 holes.
Logan Reilly
Woodmont Country Club (Maryland) Final Qualifying | Score: 68-67-135 | Lovettsville, Virginia | Auburn
The National Champion finished 3rd at Woodmont with a score of -7. Riley was the first man out for Auburn in both the semi-finals and finals, winning 7-and-6 and 1 up.
Matthew Robles
Del Paso Country Club (California) Final Qualifying | Score: [70-66-136 | Downey, California |Santa Clara
Birdies on 17 and 18 avoided a playoff for Robles and a spot for Shinnecock. Robles had teammate J.P. Odland on the bag Monday and said he will call on him again next week.
Miles Russell
Florida Final Qualifying | Score: 71-67-138| Jacksonville Beach, Florida | Florida State Commit|
Russell, with Charlie Woods on the bag, survived a 3-for-2 playoff to get into Shinnecock. Russell will add the U.S. Open to his list of achievements, which includes being the youngest player to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour, U.S. Amateur Quarterfinalist, and six PGA Tour starts.
Arni Sveinsson
Lakes Golf and Country Club (Ohio)| Score: 67-68-135| Reykjavik, Iceland | LSU
Sveinsson survived a 3-for-2 playoff at Lakes Golf and Country Club to become the first player from Iceland to qualify for a US Open. The 18th-ranked amateur in the world is the second Icelandic player, man or woman, to play in a USGA championship.
