Stewart Golf has been announced as the Official Trolley Partner of The Open Championship, a significant milestone for the award-winning British manufacturer of electric golf trolleys and one that places the brand alongside golf's oldest Major.
The agreement runs for an initial three-year period, spanning The Open Championships in 2026, 2027 and 2028. It gives Stewart Golf a sustained presence at the elite level of the game and reinforces a reputation the company has built around innovation, performance and design.
This year's edition — the 154th Open Championship — will be played at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England, from July 16-19. One of the most iconic links venues on The Open rota, Royal Birkdale hosts the tournament for the 11th time, and for the first time since 2017.
"To become the Official Licensed Trolley Partner of The Open is a proud moment for everyone at Stewart Golf. The Open holds a special place in the game, and to agree a long-term association with such a historic and globally recognised event is incredibly important for the brand.
"We are committed to continually elevating the walking experience for golfers, and this partnership reflects the progress we are making as we continue to grow our presence at the highest level of the sport."
— Mark Stewart, CEO, Stewart Golf
For The R&A, the deal is as much about merchandise and storytelling as it is about logo placement.
"It is very exciting for us to welcome Stewart Golf as an Official Licensee of The Open. Our shared commitment to excellence and innovation when considering product ranges, coupled with a natural desire to tell stories through merchandise, have helped us create an incredibly exciting, limited-edition collection for our fans this summer.
"It has been great fun working with the team at Stewart Golf and I am excited to see the reaction to the product over the coming weeks."
— Matt Tomlinson, Head of Retail, Merchandise & Licensing, The R&A
A brand built on award-winning hardware
The partnership lands as Stewart Golf's flagship products continue to collect industry honours. The brand's Q-Follow — which uses a dual-antenna system to create a "digital elastic band" that mirrors a golfer's pace around the course — has earned dual Editor's Choice recognition from Golf Monthly and Today's Golfer, and has appeared on GOLF.com's "Best of Everything" list. US outlet MyGolfSpy described it as "flawless" and the easiest trolley of its type to fold and carry.
Stewart's VERTX Remote has been similarly decorated, named Editor's Choice by both Golf Monthly and Today's Golfer in consecutive years and standing as the only electric trolley to hold a five-star rating from Golf Monthly. Its Active Terrain Control technology keeps the trolley moving at a consistent speed regardless of slope — uphill, downhill or across a sidehill lie.
That pedigree is central to the tie-up. A links venue such as Royal Birkdale, with its towering dunes and undulating fairways, is precisely the kind of test where remote and follow trolleys are designed to earn their keep.
What comes next
Further details around the partnership are set to be released soon, including a limited-edition collection produced with The R&A for this summer. Trade opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks through Stewart Golf's partner, Specialist Sports.
