From rising junior star to closing out an international field, Havanna Torstensson delivered a statement win—and a team title
Havanna Torstensson (Sweden), an incoming freshman at Wake Forest this fall, posted rounds of 70-72-68-72 to finish at 6-under 282 and claim a three-shot victory in the individual competition at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in Cádiz, Spain.
Torstensson separated herself with a third-round 68 and stayed steady down the stretch to close out the win.
Giselle Zhao (France) finished runner-up at 3-under 285 (70-71-70-74), while Charlotte Naughton (England) took third at 2-under 286 (71-72-70-73).
Torstensson has been building toward this moment. At age 14, she made her Ladies European Tour debut at the 2022 Skaftö Open, opening with a 65 and finishing T-26. In 2024, she placed fourth at the German Girls Open and went on to win the Girls Amateur Championship at Alwoodley Golf Club. With that victory, she became the third Swedish winner of the title, joining Maria Hjorth and Anna Nordqvist.
Last year, she competed in 14 ranked events, including the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, with a fourth-place finish at the Annika Invitational Europe as her season's best result.
She capped this week with a second trophy.
Representing Sweden alongside Elice Fredriksson and Ebba Lundqvist, Torstensson helped secure the team title at 6-under 570 (143-144-139-144). Sweden finished five shots clear of England and France, who tied for second at 1-under 575.
Defending individual champion Benedicte Brent Petersen (Denmark), also set to join Wake Forest this fall, finished fourth at 2-over 290 (72-74-72-72).
In the team competition, defending champions Spain finished fourth at 4-over 580 (148-144-144-144).
