Defending champion Luke Colton is grouped with Miles Russell and Noah Kent as the 30th Terra Cotta Invitational begins April 16
The Terra Cotta Invitational officially gets underway Thursday, as one of the country’s premier amateur events celebrates its 30th edition with a world-class field at Naples National Golf Club.
Scheduled for April 16-18, 2026, the invitation-only tournament features 72 of the top amateur players in the world, setting the stage for three days of elite competition in Southwest Florida.
With 24 of the top 25 Rolex Junior All-Americans, 60 players ranked in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and seven members of the U.S. National Junior Team, the Terra Cotta continues to stand among the strongest fields in amateur golf.
That depth is reflected in its national standing, ranked 10th in the United States (excluding collegiate events) among more than 3,000 amateur tournaments.
All eyes will be on Luke Colton, the two-time defending champion, who returns with a chance to become the first three-time winner in tournament history.
Colton will be featured in one of the marquee groups of the opening round, teeing off at 9:10 a.m. from No. 1 alongside No. 1-ranked junior Miles Russell and U.S. Amateur runner-up Noah Kent—a pairing that could set the tone early in the championship.
The field also includes current U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell, adding another major titleholder to an already stacked lineup of elite talent.
Locally, Naples National will be well represented. Brian Bassett, a five-time club champion, is grouped at 9:20 a.m. off No. 1, while Spencer Ives tees off earlier at 7:50 a.m. Other local standouts include Jack Ray Donovan (7:30 a.m.) and Kaden Latreille, who joins the opening group of the day.
The international flavor of the Terra Cotta remains strong, with players from more than a dozen countries including Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand competing this week.
Opening round play begins at 7:30 a.m. off both No. 1 and No. 10 tees, with threesomes continuing throughout the morning. Notable early groups include Trevor Gutschewski at 8:50 a.m. and a deep international grouping at 8:10 a.m. off No. 10 featuring three Canadian players.
Competition will run Thursday through Saturday, with players navigating one of Florida’s premier layouts in pursuit of one of amateur golf’s most respected titles.
Beyond the competition, the Terra Cotta Invitational continues its tradition of giving back, with net proceeds benefiting local children’s charities through the support of Naples National members and sponsors.
With tee times now set and a marquee group highlighting the opening round, the stage is officially set for what promises to be a memorable 30th edition of the Terra Cotta Invitational.

54-hole stroke play tournament with no cut. Caddies are required. A Sponsor/Contestant tournament is held before the event. The Terra Cotta is an invitational. However, they do encourage applications and players can submit their golf resume for consi...
