Closing 67 lifts Louisiana standout to a four-shot win as champions crowned across all divisions at Desert Willow
Todd Doss of Mandeville, La., delivered a composed final round to win the Golfweek Senior Amateur Championship at Desert Willow Golf Resort’s Firecliff Course, finishing at 7-under 209 (69-73-67) for a four-shot victory.
The 2024 and 2025 Louisiana Senior Amateur champion continued his strong run, adding to a recent win at the Society of Seniors Jack Hesler Tournament. His closing 5-under 67 proved decisive down the stretch.
Jerry Gunthorpe of Ovid, Mich., a self-taught golfer and the recent Golfweek Senior Division National Championship winner, finished runner-up at 3-under 213 (69-73-71).
Greg Sanders (Anthem, Ariz.) and Randy Haag (Orinda, Calif.) shared third at 2-under 214, while defending champion Bryan Hoops (Scottsdale, Ariz.) finished T-6 at 1-over 217 (72-73-72).
The 2024 edition champion, Mark Strickland of San Diego, Calif., placed T-12 at 3-over 219.
In the Super Senior Division (65–69), Scott Masingill of Payette, Idaho, claimed the title at 4-under 212, holding off defending champion Mark Morgan (Shingle Springs, Calif.), who finished runner-up at 3-under 213 (73-70-70).
The Legend Division (70–74) was won by Craig Calkins of Manhattan Beach, Calif., who posted 5-under 211 for a comfortable victory.
Jeffrey Knox of Jupiter, Fla., finished runner-up at 4-over 220, while defending champion David Ujihara placed sixth at 10-over.
